About

Hi there, this is Utku. I’m a full-stack software engineer at SHIFT. I live in Turkey and work from home.

In this blog, I’ll be writing mostly about whatever side-project I’m currently working on. I can’t stop working on side-projects and learning new stuff, so I tend to talk about those rather than what I do in my full-time job.

Before I steered towards web technologies, I used to develop software for ground-satellite telecommunication & satellite image processing. That was the first 5 years of my professional software engineering experience. I was also involved a bit in GPGPU (CUDA) programming and machine learning during my post-graduate studies.

Because of this mixture of domains & stacks I’ve been exposed to, I don’t have a clear specialization
like most engineers might have. That and also because I won’t be writing about what I do in my full-time job anyway, it’s unlikely that I’m going to be an expert about any topic that I’ll be talking about. (Think twice before running my code at home!) Instead, you will hear about the things I learn and build from more of an explorer’s perspective.

If you happen to like what I write, you might want to subscribe to this blog so that you can get email notifications when I post new stuff.
